About us
The Austrian Defence Lab is a Vienna-based think tank that contributes actively to the debate on security and defence policy, geopolitics and defence economics in Austria.
Scientific Rigour
Through rigorous analysis, evidence-based recommendations and contributions to the public debate, we help to inform public opinion and support political decision-making.
Independence
We are independent of political parties, statutory chambers and churches, remain neutral towards individual commercial interests and do not lobby on behalf of specific market participants or industry groups.
Capacity to Act
We raise awareness of security policy needs in politics, business and society, and thereby strengthen the strategic agency of Austria and Europe in the long term.
